McGough partnered with MidAmerican Energy Company to renovate the former Dotdash Meredith building in Des Moines, IA, into a modern workplace that provides space and amenities to support employees and growth for the future.
Originally completed in 1998 by HLKB, the predecessor firm of BNIM Principal Rod Kruse, the building’s elegant addition was designed to create an urban workplace experience at multiple scales. Through this renovation, MidAmerican Energy continued that legacy while preserving the building’s strong architectural presence in downtown Des Moines.
The completed project included renovations across four floors and parking areas, transforming office spaces and restrooms, improving building systems, and maintaining the integrity of signature spaces such as the primary entry and atrium. New employee-focused amenities, including a café and conference center, created a flexible and welcoming environment for MidAmerican Energy’s workforce.
