True Friends – Camp Courage Recreation Center

McGough partnered with True Friends to redevelop portions of the Camp Courage recreational campus near Maple Lake, Minnesota, replacing aging facilities with modern, accessible spaces designed to better serve campers, visitors, and the broader community.

The project included demolition of the existing pool, gymnasium, and welcome center, followed by construction of a new Cambria Recreation Center featuring upgraded recreational amenities and a welcoming arrival experience. The new facility supports recreation, wellness, connection, and year-round use for people of all abilities.

Early in the process, McGough worked closely with the owner to develop a comprehensive budget for the new pool, gymnasium and welcome center, helping align the project vision with financial expectations. Through strong collaboration, thoughtful planning, and focused project management, the team delivered a facility that reflects True Friends’ mission and enhances the long-term usability of the Camp Courage campus.

The new Cambria Recreation Center provides flexible, purpose-built spaces where campers can gather, participate and belong. Designed with accessibility, safety and joy in mind, the project represents the meaningful impact that construction can have beyond the jobsite.
