Building for the Next Generation
Building E capacity expansion involved the creation of a Tier III mechanical system and system-plus-system electrical system with the exhaust point for the raised floor critical load estimated at 760–800 kW. McGough removed existing mechanical systems and replaced them with Liebert XD, XDC and CRAC units; upgraded electrical services, which included a new service transformer, new UPS and batteries; installed new power distribution units and ancillary equipment; and modified structural and architectural elements as needed for the mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades. The fast-track project was completed in 10 weeks. All work was within a live data center and was successfully completed with no incidents.
