Becker County Highway Department

Taking pride in where you work starts with the building you do it in. That case is certainly true for the Becker County Highway Department which includes both the Becker County Transit team as well as the county’s Natural Resources and Forestry Department. Previously housed in more than 6 buildings at the county’s fairgrounds site, they now enter a new chapter, working within the duly upgraded 60,000 SF building that sits upon just over nine acres of land.

Working directly with local partner and leader in construction, McGough, the team was able to devise a plan that delivered on the county’s vision to provide a workplace the employees and municipality could take pride in, but also one that was user-friendly.

Quoted just before the project concluded, county officials really wanted to focus on the usability of the space for their people. That includes improved storage of equipment and drive-through bays for plows and other heavy equipment for storage and maintenance.

Key Features:

  • Exterior fuel island
  • Updated office space
  • Employee locker rooms
  • Parts storage
  • Vehicle maintenance storage
  • Welding shop
  • Woodshop
  • Small engine room
  • 5-ton crane

In addition, the facility includes a 20’ high maintenance bay with a platform lift, a crane system on metal tracks, and a large vehicle wash bay that consists of an underbody wash to rid vehicles of winter road salt.
