McGough Construction wants to invest in Rapid City. In an era of remote work, the Minneapolis-based company has opened a brick and mortar storefront in the heart of downtown. But the group is also bringing a level of technology and innovation unique to West River, placing them on the cutting edge of the region's massive building boom.
Announced last week, McGough was named a 2022 Distinguished Building Award Recipient by the TEXO Construction Association for its excellence in building the Gene and Jerry Jones Family American Cancer Society – Hope Lodge.

It’s been one year since we completed City of Jamestown’s Jamestown Parks and Recreation’s Two Rivers Activity Center – and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome!
McGough hosted a “topping off” ceremony on December 13th for Grinnell College’s new Humanities & Social Sciences Complex (HSSC). The HSSC project is a 207,799 sf renovation and expansion of two existing academic buildings into one unified complex that includes classrooms, offices, auditorium, and academic support offices.
It was a great day in Watertown, SD, as Prairie Lakes Healthcare System celebrated the placement of the last steel beam on the Prairie Lakes Specialty Clinic.

The dedication ceremony for the Ames Laboratory Sensitive Instrument Facility was held last week in Ames, Iowa. The ceremony marked the opening of the 13,300-square foot facility designed to house next-generation and current instruments, which includes electron and scanning probe microscopes.

Minnesota Concrete Council awarded two McGough Construction projects today at the 2015 Annual Meeting and Awards Program. The Ordway Center for Performing Arts - Concert Hall and Production Wing Expansion project received the 2015 Structural Design Merit Award, an award that recognizes cast-in-place structures which enhances the overall design of the building.

Surly Destination Brewery is in the spotlight again! Congratulations to HGA Architects and Engineers and the project team on receiving the Structural Engineer Excellence Design Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies - Minnesota.
McGough broke ground this year on a new, two-story and 28,000-square foot headquarters for Hubbard Radio in Phoenix, Arizona. This facility will be the new home for all five of Hubbard Radio Phoenix’s radio stations; 93.3 FM, 98 KUPD, KSLX 100.7 FM, NBC Sports 440 AM and 1060 AM.
On Tuesday, September 29th, 2015, Twin Cities PBS, McGough, project partners and local dignitaries celebrated the official launch of the newly remodeled Twin Cities PBS headquarters with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
This week, all of McGough took pause to honor the life and contributions of Leo McGough, one of the original founders of our company, who recently passed away at the age of 94.
The bustling growth in the city of Duluth, Minnesota continues! Last week, we officially broke ground on a 45,000-square-foot Health Science building for the College of St. Scholastica. The new facility will be the first-ever off-campus academic building for the college. It will house multiple classrooms and laboratories and includes a free clinic that will serve patients with or without insurance, giving students valuable hands on supervised training.
Throughout this year’s season, the Twins baseball club has recognized Yellow Ribbon Companies that go above and beyond in supporting service members and their families. Yesterday, at home plate, McGough Construction was recognized as one of these companies.
Building and modernizing sacred spaces has been a big part of McGough’s business for more than five generations. Sacred buildings are often large-volume spaces that have unique structural, mechanical, acoustical, and lighting requirements.
This week, one of our clients earned the impressive distinction of 2015 Renovation of the Year from Golf Inc! Keller Golf Course is one of the best public courses in the country and has a rich history of hosting national tournaments. We are fortunate to have been part of this very cool project, which rebuilt the course, clubhouse and pro shop with the mission of preserving and enhancing the course’s storied past.
July 9th, 2015 marked the grand opening of a project that’s near and dear to our hearts – the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, St. Paul. This warm and welcoming suite is an inclusive family amenities space and is expected to serve more than one thousand parents and family members in just its first year.

Cottage Grove, MN – Groundbreaking on a 113,000-square-foot facility expansion for Renewal by Andersen. Along with Mayor Myron Bailey in attendance were numerous dignitaries, community members, and representatives from the Andersen Corporation.
On Friday, June 12th, National Society, Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) representative John McCallum presented McGough Construction with the NSSAR Flag Certificate in recognition of commendable patriotism in the display of The Flag of the United States of America. The certificate is meant to commemorate those companies who fly The Flag of the United States of America strictly for patriotic purposes.
It was an exciting day in Duluth, MN, as maurices celebrated a major milestone in the construction of their new headquarters. Project partners, maurices representatives, and the McGough maurices project team gathered collectively to celebrate the “Topping Off” of the new structure.
A rare occasion it is that a 75-year membership plaque is presented to a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1 Minnesota/North Dakota. In fact, Leo McGough, 94, is one of only two members to reach this remarkable milestone in 2014.
More than 19,000 runners endured the near-freezing temperatures on Saturday, May 9th to run in the 2015 Fargo Marathon. Along the way, employees of McGough Construction continuously cheered on marathon runners as they took to the streets.
On Thursday, April 30th, 2015, McGough celebrated the official launch of a new regional office located in Fargo, North Dakota with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Friends, partners, and community dignitaries gathered for the celebration. McGough is proud to officially launch this office but even more proud that the organization has been consistently building relationships, and remarkable outcomes, in the North Dakota and the greater Fargo area for over a decade.
On Thursday, June 5th McGough Construction and its subcontractors gathered on their respective job sites for a moment of silence as part of OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down Event, which is held to raise awareness on the leading cause of deaths on construction sites each year.
Mary Johnson, COO, Provider Practice & Ambulatory Operations, takes us on a fantastic virtual tour of the UMN Health Clinics and Surgery Center, located on the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. McGough is pleased to be a part of such a fantastic project and we’re just excited as the UMN team for the completion and opening of the facility, slated for February, 2016. Want to see more? On Tuesday, November 25th McGough partnered with 96.3 K-TWIN, Cub Foods, and CH Robinson to help Team Perk in the KARE 11 Food Fight. Even though Team Perk came in third, everyone came out a winner.
McGough has always enjoyed working on educational facilities. Knowing that our handiwork will impact students for years to come is nothing short of awe inspiring. We are honored to have been selected to build the new Student Activity Center at St. Agnes School.
