Each year, nearly 200,000 service members transition from the military and start the next chapter of their careers. They bring strong leadership skills, discipline, and hands-on technical experience. However, finding the right job after service can still be a challenge.
To help service members with this transition, McGough is proud to be part of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program. This program allows active-duty service members the opportunity to try out civilian careers during their last 180 days of service. They continue to receive their military pay and benefits while gaining new skills on the job. For participants, it gives them a chance to explore different career paths and prepare for what comes next. For us, it’s an opportunity to connect early with highly skilled, motivated talent.
McGough offers SkillBridge internship opportunities across our locations, giving participants a full view of a career in construction. Participants receive mentorship, build connections, and gain real on-the-job experience. They are exposed to a variety of roles across our company and develop skills that support long-term career growth. It is a well-rounded experience designed to help start a career in construction.
SkillBridge is a great way for us to connect with service members as they prepare for civilian careers,” said Kendyll Albrecht, Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist at McGough. “It gives them real experience in our industry and helps them see how their skills can translate into construction. At the same time, it allows us to learn from them and build strong relationships early on.”
SkillBridge helps create new opportunities for people who have served our country. McGough is proud to be part of that effort.
