This project consisted of a 50,000 SF 4 phase renovation of surgery department including 15 new operating rooms, PACU department, Pre-op, pathology, and morgue. The design of the Surgery space was a “racetrack” design keeping all patient traffic to the outer corridor while staff, work area and staff access to ORs in a central sterile core. 15 ORs were kept active throughout the 4 phases of the project. This required significant attention to infection control measures, pressure monitoring and creation of temporary spaces as needed for each phase. The project was completed in 30 months while the hospital was able to maintain a full surgery schedule throughout construction with no interruptions.
