Project Description
Essentia Health’s Vision Northland project is the construction of a replacement hospital and clinic space on its downtown Duluth campus. The project includes 942,000 SF of new space and renovation of existing facilities. The hospital tower will rise 12 stories above East Second Street while the clinic will have eight stories above Superior Street. The hospital and clinic will have some connecting floors, including a concourse. By consolidating its campus, Essentia Health’s overall footprint will be reduced thus opening space for other development in Duluth’s Central Hillside neighborhood. Construction began in September of 2019 and is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2023.

He has been with McGough for more than 45 years and has a strong background in managing large scale intricate projects and the expertise to lead teams in these efforts. Brian Durand is the Operations Manager of the Duluth office. Brian has 30-plus years of industry experience with demonstrated expertise in project management, budget and cost management and a focus on safety. He is responsible for overseeing and assisting with all construction projects managed by the company’s Duluth office.
