Secondary Clarifier Rehabilitation

A multi-year rehabilitation of four 160-foot-diameter final clarifiers at the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District. Spanning four years, the project is carefully phased to ensure the plant remains fully operational while critical infrastructure is upgraded. The work includes complete replacement of clarifier mechanisms, new launders and V-notch weirs, and comprehensive restoration of both interior and exterior concrete surfaces. Additional improvements include new ventilation systems and upgrades to return and waste sludge pumping—requiring extensive piping and equipment replacement.

Beyond the clarifier rehabilitation, the project also delivers significant electrical upgrades, including replacement of a 5V substation and installation of a new 480V motor control center (MCC). Extensive pre-planning and carefully coordinated outages are essential to safely complete the work in phases while maintaining uninterrupted service to the community.
