Building for the Next Generation
This project included installation of a new 12.47 kV double ended sub/switch station for replacement and upgrade of the West Utility Distribution for campus. it also included fiber connections and SCADA integration for a new generation control system for the project. McGough led regular coordination and installation logistics meetings with the local utility provider, West Penn Power, and the University’s utility crews and building facility coordinators. McGough was responsible for MV cabling, terminations and testing along with coordinated cutover sequences documented by detailed Method of Procedures (MOPs) to ensure zero unplanned interruptions. Upon successful cutover completions, McGough decommissioned and demolished the existing West substation. The project included 1,000 LF of concrete encasement and duct bank and 5,700 LF of fiber.
