McGough Receives MNSHARP Award for Schoenecker Center at the University of St. Thomas

On June 20, the University of St. Thomas Schoenecker Center project team celebrated receiving a MNSHARP award from the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA).

MNSHARP, otherwise knowns as the Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, is a MNOSHA program that recognizes major construction companies where managers and employees work together to develop safety and health programs that go beyond basic compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and result in immediate and long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses. Only construction projects at least 18 months in duration are eligible for participation in MNSHARP Award Program.

To achieve this award, the project team partnered with OSHA consultants and built a strong safety culture on site by creating a safety committee, conducting safety training, performing sitewide biweekly safety meetings, promoting trade partner safety involvement, completing thorough pretask planning, and holding morning foreman huddles.

” We would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of the project team including our project partners and subcontractors in achieving this award. It takes the effort, commitment, and diligence of everyone on site to ensure that we all go home safe at the end of the day.” says Travis Maanum, senior superintendent.

This is the ninth project built by McGough to receive a MNSHARP recognition; the fourth in two years following recognitions for the Brady, Dowling Koch renovations on the University of St. Thomas Campus, the Essentia Vision Northland project in Duluth and the RBC Gateway project in downtown Minneapolis.
