Ken Peterson

Vice President, Design-Build Principal

Ken is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of McGough’s Federal projects. He has a genuine care for investing in our people and a passion for fostering collaborative partnerships with our clients, trade partners, and design teams with a commitment to always doing the right thing the right way.

Ken received a Bachelor of Science Degree with distinction from the University of Minnesota in 1994 and has over 30 years of experience in the design and construction industry.  He practiced as a licensed Structural Engineer for 15 years before fully transitioning to Project Management in 2009. Ken joined McGough in 2015 where he has honed his skills as a proactive results-oriented Construction Executive experienced in managing large complex projects with multiple stakeholders and diverse teams with a proven track record of completing projects ahead of schedule and within budget. Ken is successful in creating effective communication between the owner, design team, construction management team, superintendents, and foremen. He is skilled at multiple project delivery procurement methods, Lean principles, and change management.

Ken often leads the overall efforts of the entire design-build project team to ensure that client goals are achieved by accurately identifying key project requirements including stakeholder visions for success, design excellence, construction excellence, budget, schedule, communications, regulatory approvals, critical path decision making, deliverable milestones, constructability reviews, and quality control/assurance processes, all while ensuring the team has some fun along the way.  Additional duties include business development, marketing pursuits, and strategic planning for Federal work.

When Ken isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Julie, their four children, and two dogs at their cabin on the lake “Up North”, upland bird hunting throughout the fall, snowmobiling the trails of northern WI in the winter, and exploring new destinations around the world.
