Building for the Next Generation
To serve the vast growth in South Dakota, McGough continues to add leading talent in the construction industry. The company is excited to add Lee Garrity as general manager and Kevin Wagner as director of business development. Both moves come on the heels of opening a new Rapid City office meant to support the massive growth in western South Dakota.
Garrity’s construction career spans more than a decade having worked across the U.S. in various roles from site superintendent to vice president of construction. Garrity’s experience overseeing both field teams and working across construction management gives him a holistic perspective that benefits the projects and teams he is a part of. Additionally, he takes great pride in serving as a mentor and community leader and is excited to contribute to the enrichment of Rapid City.
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to help lead the expansion and growth for one of the country’s leading construction firms. McGough’s reputation precedes itself and we’re already seeing people in Rapid City share in our excitement in joining the market,” said Garrity. “I am looking forward to growing the firm’s presence, as well as helping serve as a mentor and leader to those looking to grow in the construction industry. I take a great deal of pride in that and can’t think of a better firm to do it with than McGough.”
As general manager, Garrity will oversee day-to-day operations of the Rapid City office, as well as lead preconstruction on new projects and collaborate on economic development within the Black Hills region. Garrity also hopes to continue to teach construction management courses, as he did for community colleges in his home state of Michigan.
Kevin Wagner also joins the team after serving in previous roles dedicated to business and economic development across the state of South Dakota. A native South Dakotan, Kevin holds an innate passion for everything South Dakota, especially those efforts that help drive economic growth and expansion.
In previous roles, Wagner successfully spurring record growth for sales tax, hotel occupancy and building permit growth while also lending support to expanded job growth in the region. In his new role with McGough, Wagner will focus efforts on building beneficial relationships with local businesses, partners, and other entities with a vested interest in developing and growing Rapid City and surrounding communities.
“The growth in the Black Hills region is so exciting to be a part of. Not only do I get to be directly invested in the community but do it with a partner that I know is going to be involved in Rapid City for a long, long time,” said Wagner. “When McGough opens an office in a new market, they do it the right way; with integrity, a focus on communities and families, and a desire to deliver a superior product. We’re not just here to complete a project and move on. We want to see it through that we leave a lasting impact on Rapid City. One that permeates well beyond being a construction partner.”
Since opening the office in Rapid City, McGough has been selected to build several notable projects that are set to break ground later this year. Continuing with that effort, the company will look to develop strong working relationships with local partners and officials to better serve the market in the long term.
