Safety at every jobsite is a McGough Construction core value. Our core values determine how we do our work, how we conduct ourselves at every project, and how we are regarded in the construction industry. McGough’s leaders have made a long-term commitment to safety; by so doing, they have demonstrated to our employees, our clients, and our partners exactly what McGough stands for.
As a core value, safety provides a foundation for decision-making that exemplifies how we do business: because we understand and diligently practice our core values, our construction partners -design firms, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors—do so as well. Consequently, McGough is renowned for having a safety culture, in which safety is an essential, primary measurement of individual and organizational performance, continuously sending and reinforcing the message that safety is every project’s most important outcome.
We believe that a construction company’s historical safety record fundamentally defines its reputation; McGough’s is among the best in the industry. Here’s proof:
Our Safety History. The “Experience Modification Rate” (EMR) is an insurance rating that determines workers compensation insurance premiums. An EMR of 1.0 is the average claim rate for every industry. McGough consistently outperforms the national average, the best evidence of our safety superiority. Indeed, we’re the only general contractor to be the multiple recipient of the Governor’s Safety Award of Honor from the Minnesota Safety Council.
Our Safety Strategy. Our success is no accident. During the course of our five-decade-plus history, McGough has established, implemented and scrupulously followed a comprehensive safety approach, which comprises three significant components: Safety Programs, Safety Practices, and Safety Department.
