McGough Expands Staff and Work in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – McGough is pleased to announce the additions of Philip Johnson, Mike Gassert and Laura Hart to their Duluth office. Since opening the Duluth office in 2016, McGough has established a strong presence and rapidly growing portfolio of work in northern Minnesota.

“We’re incredibly proud of our growth in Duluth,” said Jim Frisell, Executive Vice President at McGough. “As we expand McGough’s presence in northern Minnesota, Mike, Laura and Philip each bring notable experience and excellence to our Duluth team. We’re excited to have them on board.”

 

Philip Johnson joins McGough as a project manager after having worked in similar positions in the Duluth area. Philip’s management and oversight experience on a variety of projects make him a strong addition to the McGough team. Philip holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and legal studies from the University of St. Thomas.

 

Mike Gassert joins McGough as a Superintendent and comes to McGough with more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Mike most recently served as superintendent on the new K-12 Moose Lake School. In his position with McGough, Mike will provide strategic oversight and leadership on a variety of projects.

 

Laura Hart joins the McGough team as a project engineer. She recently graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Laura will assist with subcontract management, materials purchases, shop drawings, project meetings and all general items pertaining to successful project completions.

McGough’s Duluth office oversees projects throughout Northern Minnesota. McGough’s portfolio of recent work in Northern Minnesota includes:

  • Maurices Headquarters – Completed April 2016
  • College of St. Scholastica Health Science Center – Completed June 2016
  • Cirrus Aircraft Completion Center – Completed October 2016
  • Giant Voices Corporate Office – Completed May 2017
  • Cook County Hospital and Care Center – In progress
  • Grand Marais Public Works Facility – In progress

University of Minnesota – Duluth on the Chemical Sciences and Materials (CAMS) facility – In progress

On July 11, 2017, McGough broke ground on the 56,000-square foot University of Minnesota CAMS facility, which will meet the growing research and learning needs of students in chemistry, biochemistry, material science and engineering. This project is scheduled to be complete in December of 2018.
