Building for the Next Generation
McGough Construction is saddened to announce today that Tim McGough, an Executive Vice President with the firm, died suddenly in his sleep Monday morning.
Tom McGough Jr., President and CEO, said, “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my cousin, colleague and friend Tim McGough. Like many of the McGough family members, Tim has spent much of his 62 years of life working in the construction industry and took great pride in the family business. He is well known in the industry for his tireless work with the carpenters’ union, having recently stepped down as the Chair of the Board of Trustees. He has also forged strong partnering relationships with regional and national design, engineering and subcontracting organizations.”
“Tim was known for his broad grasp of construction contracts, collective bargain agreements and the latest construction means and methods. We will miss his attention to detail, his sense of humor and his strong desire to always ensure the firm was doing what’s right. He has left a legacy of excellence in all of his areas of involvement.”
Brad Wood, Chief Operating Officer, said, “Tim was a strong representative for the company in several external roles. He served as the firm’s founding board member for Greater MSP (Minneapolis Saint Paul Regional Economic Development Partnership), served as a board member and treasurer for St. David’s Center and was recently the Chair of the Board of Trustees for more than 30 years for the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters. He has held various leadership roles at McGough over the last several decades and most recently has been a leader in securing new clients for the company. His industry presence will be missed.”
Tim McGough, age 62, served as Executive Vice President for McGough Construction. Tim is a fifth generation McGough family member who began his career at the age of fourteen working in the company’s warehousing operation. Tim began his full-time career with McGough as a carpenter and eventually served in numerous leadership functions. Tim was a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he received a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems.
Tim is survived by his wife Jane Salmen McGough, his daughters Melissa and Molly, Jane’s daughters Kristi, Kallie and Paige, and his grandson Rafael.
