Building for the Next Generation
McGough Development is pleased to announce a new lease with Fiddlehead Coffee Company to bring the coffee shop/café to its highly amenitized, 402-unit Fenley Apartments that opened in the Spring of 2020.
Founded in 2017 in Rochester, Minnesota, Fiddlehead Coffee is an independent coffee roaster that seeks to build and restore local community (and beyond) by establishing a culture of service and sustainability that is rooted in intentionality. At the Fenley, its third location, Fiddlehead plans to bring the same expansive list of culinary offerings found at its Rochester locations, including a world-class pastry program, coffee roastery, healthy lunch and dinner café with beer and all dedicated to showcasing ethically sourced, hyper-local ingredients.
Fiddlehead is slated to open in October. It will occupy and operate approximately 2,300 square feet of space, together with an expansive outdoor patio seating area overlooking the high design Central Park at Bloomington Central Station. Beyond its retail offerings to the Fenley and other area residents, visitors, and employees, Fiddlehead will also provide catering and contract-based coffee roasting services to surrounding businesses and employers throughout the Twin Cities.
For Fiddlehead Owner, Sarah Phalen, it is a great time to open the new location. "Especially after last year, we can think of no better way to celebrate than with a new shop in such a prime location,” Phalen said. “We are so grateful for the opportunity to help create a thriving community and a beautiful space for not just delicious food and beverages but also respite, friendship, business, and local art in Bloomington."
According to Bloomington Port Authority Administrator Schane Rudlang, the City’s “Port Authority has long been a supporter of providing neighborhood amenities such as food and beverage options in the South Loop District. We are pleased to welcome Fiddlehead Coffee to the South Loop community as part of the Fenley”
The Fenley Apartments is the third phase of multifamily housing in its 50-acre high density, mixed-use, transit-oriented development at Bloomington Central Station in the South Loop District of Bloomington. Located by the Mall of America and MSP International Airport, and steps away from the extensive trail system within the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, the neighborhood is served by three light rail stations along the Blue Line, which takes residents and visitors to and from downtown Minneapolis in a traffic-free 30-minute ride. Bloomington Central Station master plan is part of a long-term public-private partnership with the City of Bloomington.
