Surly Destination Brewery is in the spotlight again!
Congratulations to HGA Architects and Engineers and the project team on receiving the Structural Engineer Excellence Design Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies – Minnesota.
The Surly Destination Brewery is a 50,000 GSF destination brewery that combines a beer hall, restaurant, brewery production, event center and gardens in the Minneapolis Prospect Park neighborhood. The structure required an astonishing 439 driven 100-ton capacity composite piles to provide the necessary support for the building and brewhouse operations. An elaborate methane venting system was also required.
The structure eloquently reacted to both the architectural theme and the brewery operations. Structural systems included precast double-tees for a 24-inch cast in place concrete roof structure to support the fermentation tanks. The precast double-tees were also used for the brewery and were specific to the Department of Agriculture requirements.
Congratulations Surly Destination Brewery team on a job well done! Cheers!
