Surly Brewing Destination Brewery

The new award-winning 50,000 GSF Destination Brewery provided Surly Brewing Company the ability to meet growing market demands for their product and provide their customers with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. When they initially expanded the brewing operation, Surly needed a contractor who could execute large-scale work while understanding the systems and mechanical needs to meet the building’s demands.

McGough, having spent several decades in the food and beverage industry, as well as overseeing complex builds in the health and science space, understood the requirements necessary and was able to lead the project to completion.

The project includes a Brewhouse, Fermentation Cellar, Retail Store, Packaging Hall, Restaurant, Canning Hall, Support Space, Beer Hall, Kitchen, Private Dining, Event Center and Beer Gardens. The building sits on composite piles with pile caps and grade beams. The first floor slab is a cast-in-place structural slab. The primary structure is structural steel and metal joists. A portion of the roof is precast double-tees. The exterior wall is primarily metal framed with a metal panel screen wall cladding.
