Hamline University, Anderson Student Center

Hamline University, the oldest registered university in Minnesota, was looking to upgrade its campus dining offering, create a flexible event space, and add additional parking to accommodate students, faculty and visitors all the same.

Just down the road from Hamline, McGough knows the university and neighborhood well, making them a valuable partner in executing this project. During the construction, we made several key design recommendations on both the mechanical cooling equipment as well as the exterior envelope, saving the owner more than $500,000 on construction costs.

The project, once completed, totaled more than 3 stories of student-focused facilities including a 19,000 SF kitchen and dining area. The new kitchen is now set up for catering of the entire campus and has the capacity to serve a 600-seat event center concurrently. Sustainability features include solar panels, high-performance glass, and lighting, a green roof with an outdoor terrace/seating space and recycled materials.
