While you are checking out the Minnesota State Fair this year, be sure to take notice to a little piece of history that is right under your nose – or should we say above it?
The lost “State Fair” arch was found during the construction of the West End Market in 2014 and was restored to its original glory. The original arch was the streetcar entrance from 1933 to 1964, and was taken down in the 1980s and forgotten about.
McGough crew members transported the lost arch, poured the new columns, and installed precast and brick for the restored State Fair sign.
This arch can now be seen at the West End gate entrance – be sure to check it out!
